Black Friday Sales

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving!  I'm always thankful for any time I can spend with my family especially after we had a few health scares over the past year.  Everyone is fine, but it really makes you remember that you can't take anyone or anything for granted.  I'm also so thankful for all of you that have supported me over the past year and that I've had the chance to connect with.  I never imagined how great the blogging community was when I started this, but discovering and connecting with other bloggers has been one of my favorite parts of this journey, so thank you!

Shopping Black Friday sales has always been a tradition for my mom and me.  We will be at the mall at 8am getting a head start on holiday shopping.  I know we could find the same deals online, but we love spending time together and decompressing afterwards with a delicious lunch!

If you don't want to brave the crowds, I've rounded up a list of some of the great Black Friday sales that you can shop in your PJs.  Whatever you decide to do, I hope you have a great day and great weekend!

Tour of Blogland

Original post here

Happy Hump Day (or should I say pre-Turkey Day!)!  I’m beyond ready for a little break, some family time, and way too much food tomorrow followed by a little online shopping before hitting up the Black Friday sales.  Are you guys ready for tomorrow?  I feel like everyone has been running so fast recently and I hope you can take a little time to relax tomorrow and I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving tomorrow!  Be sure to check back on Friday and I will have my picks from all of the sales up.

I’ve enjoyed reading everyone’s Tour through Blogland posts and was very flattered and excited when the always chic Ivette from Girl in a Hot City reached out to me about participating.  I don’t know how I discovered her blog, but I’m so happy I did!  She has amazing style and you should definitely check out her blog.  Discovering this amazing community of other bloggers has been one of my favorite parts of this journey, so I’m also excited to nominate two fellow Atlanta bloggers who I’ve enjoyed getting to know through blogging and hope you enjoy getting to know them as well!

1) What am I working on?
Right now, I’m trying to figure out how I can expand my current posting schedule to 5 days a week through the creation of a weekly series as well as playing with several ideas for a blog re-design.  For the past year or so, this has been a hobby, but I’m ready to make my little internet space more professional.

2) How does my work differ from others in its genre?
I’m still trying to figure out this out as there are a ton of other fashion bloggers out there.  I feel as though I discover another great blog every day or week.  However, the internet is big enough for all of us to have our little piece without stepping on each other.

3) Why do I write/create what I do?
I’ve always loved fashion and clothes, and toyed with the idea of starting a blog for a while.  I was always the one who my friends would ask for advice or before they bought an item.  On the blog, I want to share my love of looking creating great outfits without spending a ton through finding great deals and remixing pieces in your wardrobe.  I may splurge on my shoes, but everyone has a weakness, right?

I realized I need a creative outlet in my last job as a consultant where I was traveling every week and living out of a suitcase (picking just one pair of shoes for the week was always so tough!).  However, it was only after I quit that job last year and too some time last year to figure out what I wanted that I started my blog and I love seeing how it continues to evolve.

4) How does my writing/creating process work?
To be honest, this is something I’m working on.  I’m trying to get better at planning out my posts so I’m not up late the night before (like tonight) writing my posts.  I try to find creative inspiration in everything from what my co-workers are wearing (I have some amazingly stylish co-workers!) to magazines to blogs to Pinterest.  People watching is one of my favorite pastimes.  The writing process is a totally different story and a little bit of a work in progress as some nights the words flow and then others there’s nothing.  If you guys have any tips on writing inspiration, I’d love to hear them!

Now to introduce you to a few of my favorite bloggers!

We are Whitney and Blaire of the blog Peaches In A Pod.  We are neighbors and best friends living in Atlanta, Georgia who share a love of fashion and beauty.   We created this blog as a way of sharing our own personal style, and we have absolutely loved the experiences and friendships that our blog has brought us in the past year.  It's been so much fun chasing our little ones and our dreams at the same time.  We hope that you will check out Peaches In A Pod and follow us along on our fashion adventures.

Kate Style Petite is a fashion and food diary for a hungry Asian American trying to find clothes that fit in the U.S. She provides insights on styling and shopping for petites and sharing her favorite recipes and local eateries.

Leather & Plaid

Jacket: Zara
Boots: Coach, old, similar, similar
Scarf: Zara
Ring: Baublebar
Necklace: Baublebar
Bracelets: Baublebar (here, here, similar), C. Wonder

I hope you had a great weekend!  I've got a little bit of writer's block so I'm keeping it short today.  The holiday season kicked off with a holiday party on Friday.  I'm so not ready for the holidays but it is always fun to get dressed up.  I know I'm not the only one who is loving plaid this fall. I last wore this plaid shirt here, and this outfit combines a few of my favorite things: the blanket scarf, leather, and plaid.  What are your favorite trends for fall/winter?

By the way, if you are still looking for a blanket scarf, Zara.com has a few options in stock. In addition to the one I'm wearing above, I also love this one and this one.

Holiday Gift Guide For Her

TGIF!!  I feel like it has been a crazy few weeks and I'm so ready for Thanksgiving (and Black Friday!) next week.

I'm the first to admit that I'm not a good gift giver.  I'm also normally the person finishing my Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve.  My family has never been big on giving surprise gifts for Christmas.  We are big on practical gifts, things that you've asked for, or money so there aren't many surprises on Christmas morning.  I've been trying get better at picking gifts the women in my life will like and I've included the first of my gift guides below.  Most things are under $100 as I try to find fun gifts that don't break the bank for Christmas.  Have you guys started your holiday shopping or made your lists yet?

Have a great weekend!

Holiday Party Dress

Jacket: Aqua, old, similar, budget option, LOVE this all white one
Dress: Fab'rik (runs small)
Clutch: Old Navy, old
Shoes: Jean-Michel Cazabat, similar
Earrings: Baublebar, old
Bracelets: Baublebar (here, here), C.Wonder, old

I hope your week is going well!  It is crazy that is the middle of November and Christmas is right around the corner.  I have my first holiday party this weekend and while I love getting dressed up, I don't love spending a fortune on holiday party dresses (or fancy dresses in general) since the cost per wear is never very good.  My requirements for a holiday dress are simple: it has to be pretty, figure flattering, versatile enough to be worn to multiple events, and not too expensive.  Luckily, this Fab'rik dress hits all of my requirements and definitely doesn't break the bank at $52 (!).  Apologies in advance to all of my friends as you will be seeing a lot of this dress over the holiday season!

Shirt: Old Navy
Jeans: Rag & Bone
Bag: Old Navy
Boots: Dolce Vita, old
Earrings: Baublebar (here, here)
Necklace: Baublebar
Bracelets: Baublebar (here, here, similar)

I hope you had a great weekend!  It was freezing here this week (or freezing for Atlanta), so it was the perfect opportunity to break out my new leopard coat.  My friend wore this coat to dinner and I wouldn't let her leave until she told me where she got it.  I've been looking for the perfect leopard coat for a while, so when I found this one on sale for under $100, I knew I hit gold!

Weekend Sale Round-up

Image via source

Happy Friday!  I know I'm ready for the weekend.  I love to burn the candle at both ends, but I'm counting down the days until Thanksgiving.  Turkey, a long weekend, Black Friday sales, no alarms.... I can't wait.  Is it sad that now it has finally gotten cold here I'm over winter already?  Maybe I just need to pick up a few more cozy sweaters from the sales below...

Two of my favorite stores are having their Friends and Family this weekend, Loft and Ann Taylor.  I've worn items from both stores so many times on the blog and always love to stock up on great pieces during their sales.  I feel like Loft and Ann Taylor are always having some sort of sale, so it never really makes sense to pay full price (not that I ever like to pay full price!).  It was a tough job looking though all of the sale items for you guys, but someone has to do it, lol!  My favorites are below.  I hope you have a great weekend!

Ann Taylor - 40% off with code FRIENDS40

Loft - 40% off with code SHAREIT

Bloomingdales - Friends and Family, 20% off select items with code HOLIDAY.  Most picks under $100.

Also, there are a couple of other sales going on.  J. Crew Factory has 40-60% off everything (no code necessary), J. Crew has 25% everything with the code SHOPNOW, and Club Monaco has 30% select coats, scarves, and gloves with code KEEPWARM.

I hope you have a great weekend and thanks for reading!

Red Plaid Shirt

Blazer: J. Crew, old, similar, budget option
Top: Fab'rik, also love this one
Shoes: Jimmy Choo, old, similar, similar
Earrings: Baublebar (here, here)
Bracelets: Baublebar (here, here, similar, similar)

I guess it is blue blazer week here!  I promise this isn't the same blazer I wore on Monday, but I'm too tired to edit another set of pictures, I've been indulging my inner prep recently (Sorry!).  It took me a while to find the perfect red plaid shirt, but I've worn this one twice since picking it up over the weekend.  I love the plaid and leopard mix (but I love leopard with everything!) and I'm sure this outfit will be on repeat as long as it is warm enough to not wear boots.  I can also already see this red plaid shirt with my leather skirt, leggings and a fur vest, this list goes on...

P.S. I'm sorry some of images came out slightly blurred.  They showed up clear on my computer so I have to figure out what's causing that.... Just when I thought I had my camera figured out, lol!

Blazer: Gap

Pants: Loft, sold out, similar, similar
Belt: Loft, sold out
Earrings: Baublebar (here, here)
Necklace: Baublebar, sold out, similar
Bracelets: Baublebar (here, similar, here, similar)

I hope you had a great weekend!  I may work in a more creative environment, but I still always want to create outfits to wear to work that are polished.  I wanted to incorporate these Loft pants into an outfit to wear to work since I love how they look.  I firmly believe a great blazer can add polish to any outfit, and this Gap navy blazer definitely does that for these camo pants. The blazer, together with a simple button down and great pair of shoes, takes these casual pants seamlessly from weekend to weekday.

Over the weekend, I attend The Brand Market.  If it comes to your city, I highly recommend you go.  I learned so much that I can't wait to apply and met some amazing women who are pursuing their goals.

Fur Vest

Vest: Banana Republic, similar, similar
Top: Loft, old
Leggings: Spanx
Purse: Old Navy
Shoes: Giuseppe Zanotti, old but on Bluefly here, similar, budget option
Earrings: Baublebar (here, here)
Neckalce: boutique find, similar

I hope your week is going well!  The weather really turned to fall this past weekend, and I pulled out one of my favorite pieces, my fur vest.  I grabbed this during Black Friday last year and have found that it goes with everything.  I can't believe how long it took me to buy a fur vest, but have found it to be the perfect chic layering piece.  While I don't love the cold(er) weather (come back summer!), cozy pieces like this fur vest make it somewhat bearable.  I'm still counting down the days until Spring though...

I'm so excited that Steph and Bethany selected this look as one of their featured 3 today on their Three-fer Thursday link-up.  Check it out here or here!
