Blue and Green

Shirt: Jones New York (similar, similar)
Skirt: Maje (similar)
Sandals: Matt Bernson (love these and these)
Bag: Zara, old
Bracelets: Bauble Bar, old
Earrings: Boutique find

I hope your week is going well!  I bought this skirt a while ago during the Bloomies end of season sale and have been waiting patiently to wear it.  I'm so glad the warm weather is here and I can finally wear it!  I love the color and would normally pair it with a white t-shirt for a more casual look, but decided to dress it up with this silk shirt.  I can see why everyone is going crazy for those Equipment silk shirts!  This blouse is so versatile, a great color and a perfect way to add polish to a look.  And did I mention it is machine washable?  Perfect!

Peter Pilotto For Target for Easter

Jacket: Gap
T-Shirt: Banana Republic
Skirt: Peter Pilotto for Target
Necklace: Bauble Bar, similar, similar
Shoes: Christian Louboutin, similar, similar
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff, old

I hope you guys had a great weekend!  It was beautiful here and I enjoyed a neighborhood festival with my friends on Saturday and a fashion show/event on Sunday.  The show was great and I hope to share some pictures later this week.

I know this is a week late, but I wanted to share my outfit from Easter.  I should have learned my lesson not to take outfit pictures after a big meal after the bottomless mimosa brunch, but obviously didn't....  Even though I'm not big into prints, I really liked the Peter Pilotto for Target collection.  I picked up a few of the Peter Pilotto pieces right after the collection came out, but was lucky enough to find this skirt on clearance!  Add in a great pair of heels and a statement necklace and I was ready for some great quality time with the family.

Making Boyfriend Jeans Office Appropriate

Blazer: Loft
Top: BCBG (similar)
Jeans: Current/Elliot (one size too big)
Earrings: Bauble Bar

TGIF!  Keeping it brief today as I had a college happy hour last night.

I wore this outfit to work and got so many compliments I decided to photograph it for the blog!  I love the blue/aqua combination of this BCBG top and Loft blazer and I'm loving my makeshift pair of boyfriend jeans.  They fit perfectly as skinny jeans when I first bought them, but stretched out so much they are now a slim pair of boyfriend jeans, lol!

How are you wearing your boyfriend jeans?  Have a great weekend!

Another Way to Wear a Dress

Dress: French Connection (on sale!), last seen here
Skirt: J.Crew (on sale!)
Clutch: Zara, old
Shoes: Zara, old
Bracelet: Bauble Bar, C. Wonder, old
Necklace: Boutique Find
Earrings: C. Wonder

I hope everyone's week is going well!  Since starting this blog, I've definitely been more creative in trying to find new ways to wear the clothes in my closet.  Going out and buying new clothes to photograph every weekend for the blog was never in the cards (credit or otherwise)....

I love this dress, which I've worn by itself (here) and layered over turtlenecks in winter.  However, I wanted to find more ways to wear it.  I never have enough tops in my closet (I don't know why I rarely buy them...), so I decided to turn this dress into a top and pair it with one of my trusty white skirts.  Thankfully, the skirt is thick enough so that the pattern of the dress didn't show through and it was surprisingly comfortable to wear skirt a skirt over the dress.  I will have to see how many other dresses in my closest I can turn into tops....

Have you guys styled a skirt over a dress before?

Pairing Stripes with Stripes

Top: Gap (on sale!)
Skirt: J.Crew (similar, similar, similar)
Shoes: DM David Meister (similar, similar)
Necklace: Bauble Bar (similar)
Bracelets: Bauble Bar, C. Wonder, old

I hope everyone had a great Easter weekend!  Mine was very relaxing and I spent Easter Sunday with my family.  We are always running around so much it was nice to take some time and catch up with them.  I also dyed my hair a little lighter (see here on Instagram), which I love!!  I will take some outfit pictures and show you guys later this week.

As you know, I've been obsessed with stripes recently.  I've had this J. Crew skirt for a while and normally wear it with a solid color top (here).  When I saw this striped top at Gap, I knew I wanted to try to wear it with something other than white jeans, so I decided to pair the two together.  For someone who normally only wears one pattern piece at a time, this was big step!  I don't know if it will be a regular occurrence, but I really liked the stripe on stripe.

How do you guys feel about the wearing matching patterns?  Is it something that you will be trying out?

I'm very excited to be the featured blogger on Paige's Stylish Tuesday link-up!  Check it out here!

Happy Friday!  This is going to be a short post since I just got back from a great birthday dinner for my mom.  If you are in Atlanta, you have to check out St. Cecilia.  The food was amazing!!

My obsession with stripes (and heels) is obviously still going strong.   Have a great weekend!

Black and White Chic

Top: Asos
Skirt: Zara
Clutch: Asos
Shoes: Fendi
Bracelets: C. Wonder

I hope your week is going well!  It's funny, but I always thought of myself as a pants person before I started this blog but I think that was just a function of working in male-dominated fields (consulting) and really cold climates (looking at you Chicago and Madison...).  At the beginning of the year, I started a new job in a majority female office here in Atlanta and have really embraced my femininity and style.  In the process, I've discovered that I actually love skirts (and apparently white ones (see here, here).

When I saw this skirt is Zara, I thought about it for a nanosecond before buying it in black and white.  You know a piece is a good buy when you are creating outfits with it before you have even bought it!  I love the split front which is sexy but not in your face.  I love the ruffle detailing on the top of this shirt which elevates from basic to sophisticated.  Add in my favorite Fendi pumps (love the heel!) and a pop of color clutch and I'm ready to go (location tbd....)!

Has a new job ever changed your style?  How did it change?

Have a great day!

Pink Stripes

Top: Old Navy
Skirt: Gap, in stores
Earrings: Bauble Bar
Shoes: Stuart Weitzman, old
Purse: Marc Jacobs

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  It was beautiful here (though way too much pollen!).  I had friends in town so it was a weekend of catching up and great meals.

I've been really into stripes recently (and pink is one of my favorite colors), so when I saw this skirt at Gap recently, I had to have it.  I love the exposed zipper on the back.  Unfortunately, it seems like a lot of other people loved it also since it is sold out online, but I saw in stores last week.  I paired it with my trusted denim shirt (why didn't I buy one of these sooner?!) and my favorite Stuart Weitzman sandals (which are so comfortable!) for a day of running errands and transitioning to a backyard BBQ dinner with friends.

I also wore my new Bauble Bar earrings for the first time and I got so many compliments on them!  I normally rock a statement necklace, but I've been getting more into great earrings recently (any excuse to buy new jewelry, lol!) and these neon and turquoise ones are perfect for spring summer.

Have a great day!

Taking Fishnets to Work

Top: Diane von Furstenberg, old
Skirt: Milly, old
Belt: Loft, old
Tights: Spanx
Earrings: C. Wonder, old

Happy Friday!!

Do you ever have those days when you feel like crap and try to pull together a cute outfit that can make you feel great and like you might be able to take on the world?  Whenever I feel like crap, I always try to dress up because it makes me feel better.  This last month has been a slog at work as we worked to hit a deadline yesterday (which we did!!!), and there were some days I just felt like showing up in sweatpants after catching 4-6 hours of sleep.  (I'm a 7-8 hour girl.)  On those days, I would always reach for an outfit like this to make me feel better.  There is something about looking great (and a big cup of coffee) that makes me feel instantly better.  I sometimes would cheat and put a pair of flats in my bag though because the last thing my tired body wants is sore feet!

I loved the color scheme from this outfit last week so much that I decided to reverse it.  I made this outfit a little more fun with a pair of fishnets that I've wanted to break out for a while.  I'm sorry they didn't show up that well in the pictures, but I love them and they keep the outfit from being too sweet.  Also, I find nude fishnets a lot easier to wear to work than black one (and I work in a very creative industry!).

Now that we've finished this project, I'm going to take a long nap this weekend and try to recover from the lack of sleep over the last month!  What are you guys up to this weekend?  How do you make yourselves feel better when you really don't feel like getting dressed for work?

Have a great weekend!

How to Wear the Sheer Trend - Dressy Version

Top: Elizabeth and James, last seen here
Skirt: Zara, similar
Jacket: Gap
Necklace: J.Crew, similar
Shoes: Kurt Geiger via Nordstrom Rack

I hope your week is going well!  I have a big work deadline on Thursday, so I'm looking forward to Thursday evening drinks with friends!

I bought this top during a sample sale and wear it a lot with jeans, but I wanted to try to dress it up for a potential dinner/fancy date.  I've wanted a skirt with a sheer bottom for a while, but was unsure of how much I would actually wear it.  When I saw this version in Zara for $25, I jumped on it as I it is a great way to try the trend cheaply before buying a more expensive version.  After trying to wear the skirt with a few different tops, I think I'm okay with the Zara version as I don't see myself getting a lot of wear out it.  I do love it with this top though!

My favorite part of this outfit is the shoes!  We all know I have a weakness for great shoes (here, here, here, you get the idea!) and when I saw these at Nordstrom Rack I had to have them!  I've talked a lot of crap about the shoe selection at my local Nordstrom Rack (after living near the one in downtown Chicago, nothing will compare), but the shoe selection has improved significantly for my last few visits.  I love that these are a basic pump, but the heel totally makes this shoe special (and it is actually comfortable!).  A win all around!

Have a great day!

Orange Crush

Shirt: Old Navy
Skirt: Banana Republic, similar
Jacket: J. Crew
Necklace: Bauble Bar, old
Belt: Loft, similar
Bracelets: Bauble Bar, C.Wonder (similar)
Shoes: Jimmy Choo, old

I hope you had a great weekend!  My weekend was great even though I didn't do anything except a kickball game earlier today (we won!).  Do you every have those weekends where you just need to take a break from everything?  I stayed home Friday and Saturday nights and caught up on sleep (and the Final Four tournament!) which is exactly what I needed.

I bought this skirt last summer and I love it, but it sits in my closet for most of the year staring at me since I normally only wear it on 80 degree days or at the beach.  I decided to bring it out and try to make it more early spring/chilly weather appropriate by pairing it with my favorite shirt (seen here and here) and my trusty army green J. Crew jacket (since it was a little colder than anticipated...).  I probably would have worn a sand colored short boot with this, but I was a little too over eager to break out the sandals (my toes were cold for the rest of the day and I hate when my feet are cold!).  I also decided to try buttoning the collar up all the way.  What are your thoughts on that look?  I actually ended up unbuttoning the first few buttons later in the day, but it was fun to try something a little different.  Hopefully, it hits 80 before I pull this skirt out again (this week maybe!), but at least now, it won't be so neglected in my closet.   What are some of your favorite ways to extend the life of your favorite items?

Have a great day!
