Sweater: Club Monaco, similar
Necklace: Baublebar
Jeans: c/o Spanx, last seen here and here
Purse: Old Navy, sold out, similar
Shoes: Saint Laurent, sold out (drooling over this splurge pair, save, save)

I'm keeping it short today since it has been a very busy week at work (and I'm still writing some of my posts the night before they go live...).  I'm sorry if it seems like another day, another black and white outfit around here.  I just can't help myself!  As soon as it warms up, I promise color will come back into my wardrobe.  In the meantime, this amazing BaubleBar necklace (which is back in stock!) is perfect as my pop of color.

Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Stripes and Leather

Jacket: Zara
Dress: Topshop, old, similar, similar under $15!
Earrings: BaubleBar, similar
Necklace: BaubleBar
Tights: c/o Spanx
Clutch: Clare V.
Bracelets: Baublebar (here, here, sold out, similar)
Watch: c/o Daniel Wellington

I hope your week is going well!  I know I've said that layering a dress over a turtleneck is one my favorite ways to make that dress winter appropriate.  I think this black turtleneck is one of the most loved items in my closet!  I've worn this Topshop dress on the blog before (last seen here), but wanted to dress it down a bit for work to drinks outfit (aka get another wear out of it!).  While I loved the way it looked,  I realized about half way through the day that this dress and the turtleneck weren't a very good combo when I had trouble lifting my arms above my head.  Oh well, thankfully I didn't have to raise my hand for anything that day, lol!

Belk Trend Preview

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of going to Belk Spring Trend Preview, where fashion director, Arlene Goldstein, gave an overview of the four spring fashion trends below.

Spare Me - very architectural, lots of black, white and color blocking

Garden Party - Very feminine and romantic, with lots of florals and lace

Islander -  Exotic patterns (ikat, palms, etc) and fun matched sets

Sport Chic - Silhouettes borrowed from the gym

All of these trends have made me even more excited for spring and new spring clothes!  I would have thought that Spare Me or Islander would be my favorite trend, but given how many Garden Party items I added to my wish list (the 5 items below are just a few of the items I wanted...) you might be seeing a lot of florals and lace over the next few months.  What trend are you most excited about for spring?

Some of my favorite on trend items are below

L to R
Spare Me: 1/2/3/4
Garden Party: 1/2/3/4/5
Island: 1(tee/dress)/2/3/4
Sporty Chic: 1/2/3/4

Black Cashmere Dress

Cashmere Dress: Barneys, similar, similar
Vest: Fab'rik, similar, similar
Necklace: BaubleBar
Bracelet: BaubleBar
Clutch: Clare V.
Boots: Joie

I hope you had a great weekend!  I've had this dress for a long time (I'm almost embarrassed to say how many years...), but rarely wore it as I never really knew what to pair it with.  The dress is cashmere and so soft, but very warm and also a little more form-fitting than I normally wear.  It probably wasn't the smartest decision to throw my fur vest over it (I think I was a puddle by the end of the night), but was fun to step outside of my fashion comfort zone for a night at least.  It isn't fun to always play it safe!

Navy and Black

Nicole-to-the-Nines-Navy-and Black

Blazer: J. Crew, similar, budget version
Sweater: Club Monaco, similar
Jeans: Rag & Bone
Necklace: Bauble Bar, similar

Happy Friday!

As you know, one of my resolutions is to shop my closet more, which requires a little more creativity than just buying the newest items.  For so long, I was very nervous to pair navy and black together, but after seeing the two together during a recent Pinterest session, I realized how chic the pairing can be.  I only wished I'd paired the two together sooner!

Do you wear black and navy together?

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a great weekend!

Winter Beauty Favorites

I'm a relatively newbie to makeup as I didn't really start wearing anything beyond mascara and eye shadow until a few years ago.  Two years ago, I let my 16 year old cousin (and aspiring doctor/makeup artist) update my makeup.  Little did she know she was creating a monster!

I've always had acne prone skin (even now...), so I try to be careful with what I put on my face.  I got a Clarisonic for Christmas a few years ago, but only started using it religiously 2-3x week for exfoliation and a deep clean 6-8 months ago.  My skin feels softer and smoother now that I've been consistently using the Clarisonic.  I've also started using the Josie Maran argan oil as a night moisturizer.  It absorbs quickly and doesn't feel oily at all.  I love it and would use it in the day if I could find a good sunscreen to pair it with.

In terms of makeup, I've fallen in love with this Giorgio Armani foundation.  It gives a beautiful glowing, slightly dewy finish that I love.  It is expensive but so worth it and a little goes a long way.  I'm also obsessed with this NARS pencil.  It is very matte (but not drying) and last almost all day.  I'm already trying to figure out what colors I need for spring!

I know it looks like I use a lot of expensive products, but I also have some great drug store favorites including L'Oreal Voluminous mascara and ELF eyeshadow.

What are some of your favorite beauty products right now?

Also, don't forget to check out Piperlime's 30% off shoes, bags, and accessories with code HITREFRESH until tomorrow night.  I've selected a few favorites below.
