Spring Break - Beach Dreaming

Happy Friday!  I know we are all over this weather (except maybe those lucky enough to live in California).  Do you miss spring break?  I definitely didn't take enough trips over spring break in college, but I could use a week at the beach right now!

Day dreaming about the beach got the best of me this week(especially with our winter storm warning that ended up being a bust!), and I've pulled together a few of my favorite beach pieces.  This hot pink bathing suit is calling my name.  For the beach all I need a bathing suit, cover-up, hat and a few good books and I'm set for days.  Oh, and maybe a margarita also.

How To Wear Jogger Pants - Casual

Jacket: Gap, similar
Top: Elizabeth and James, old, similar
Joggers: BB Dakota
Bag: Old Navy, similar
Necklace: Bauble Bar
Earrings: Kendra Scott
Sunglasses: Target
Bracelet: Bauble Bar
Shoes: Dolce Vita, similar

Sometimes, you just have to admit when you are wrong.  I resisted the joggers trend for so long as I didn't think they would be flattering.  I thought I would rather wear my jeans.  Some of the girls at work and some of my fellow bloggers have been rocking them, but I just never thought they were for me.  That all changed when I tried on my first pair. Yes, I totally judged them without even trying them.  They are quite possibly the most comfortable pair of pants I own!  I think there is an update coming to my weekend uniform.

How do you feel about jogger pants?

Black and Leopard

Jacket: Tulle (on sale!), last seen here
Top: Theory, similar
Skirt: Target, similar under $20
Earrings: Kendra Scott
Necklace: Kendra Scott
Purse: Marc Jacobs, old, similar, similar
Bracelets: Bauble Bar (here, here)
Shoes: Jimmy Choo

When I bought this leopard jacket last year, I didn't realize it would become a staple in my closet.  You've seen it before, (last time here) and to be fair I normally wear it with jeans.  However, one of my resolutions was to shop my closet more.  It's been so hard not to open all of the sale emails I've been getting, but I'm determined not to buy too much until spring (and then my wish list is huge...).  Since I shockingly don't have a plain black dress that I love, I created my own with this black top and skirt.  While I think a dress might have been better, I'm pretty happy with the outcome (and even happier with the money I didn't spend!)

Do you guys have any tips that make shopping your closet easier?

Were you all watching NYFW and all of the shows?   I had a little bit of FOMO until I saw how cold it was in NYC.  Then I was perfectly happy watching everything online.  I do not do cold weather well!  I still want to go to NYFW, only when it is warmer!  While there were a lot of great shows, I wasn't blown away by this NYFW as there were also quite a few shows that I just didn't love.  Based on the shows, I've pulled together a few of my favorite trends: fringe, black and white (shocker!), bright colors, and layering.

Which trend are you most excited about?  I'm slightly impatient so one of my least favorite things about fashion week is waiting for all of the beautiful clothes that walked down the runway to hit stores (and my closet!).  To make the wait a little easier, I've pulled together a few pieces to help you incorporate the trends into your wardrobe now.

A Happy Accident

Vest: Banana Republic, old, similar
Jacket: Zara
Turtleneck: J. Crew
Bag: Old Navy, old, similar, similar
Shoes: Kurt Geiger
Necklace: Bauble Bar
Earrings: Kendra Scott
Hat: Urban Outfitters, still available in store, similar

I hope you had a great weekend!  It was a little chilly and gloomy here, but I can't complain since it was nothing compared to what my friends are experiencing in other parts of the country.

Do you ever have outfits that come together by accident?  This is an example of one of those outfits for me.  I rediscovered this faux fur vest in my closet and threw it one over my jacket on the way out the door since I wanted a little extra warmth.  I fully intended to switch the vest to wear under the jacket later.  However, I ended up liking up so much I kept the vest over the jacket.

Just a warning, when I took off my vest and jacket, I almost forget my vest at the bar since  don't normally layer the two.  Don't be forgetful like me!

Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Lace Detail Sweater

Necklace: Bauble Bar
Earrings: Kendra Scott
Bracelets: Bauble Bar (here, here, here)
Shoes: Saint Laurent, similarsimilar under $75

Sometimes all you need is a statement piece to elevate your basics.  A grey sweater and boyfriend jeans has the potential to be a little too simple, but this necklace (and red lipstick) elevates them to anything but boring.  I've had my eye on this necklace for several weeks and finally decided to treat myself for my birthday at the end of January.  It is heavy but I love it.  Sometimes you have to #treatyoself!

How to Wear Over The Knee Boots

Jacket: Boutique find, similar
Turtleneck: J. Crew
Jeans: Rag & Bone
Bag: Old Navy, similar, similar
Necklace: Bauble Bar
Bracelets: Bauble Bar (here, here, here, here)
Boots: Joie, similar cheaper option

I hope your week is going well!  I'm keeping it short today as I totally thought I had a post already written and scheduled for today (you can probably tell from the imaginative title, lol!)....  I'm trying to wear these grey over the knee boots as many times as possible before it gets too warm (which doesn't look like any time soon...).  I've paired them with skirts, other jeans, and dresses and am surprised at how versatile they are.  I only wish I'd bought them earlier!

What have been some of your favorite items this winter?
